Volunteer Coordinator for Transportation (AmeriCorps*VISTA) Give people mobility and empower them! Help bring public transportation to our communities.
MEMBER DUTIES:
The MTCC VISTA member, or Volunteer Coordinator, will be working with Opportunity Link and the NCMT Transit Manager in tasks required in establishing an effective coordinated public transportation system that is accessible for everyone. He/She will take the lead in the development of cooperative and collaborative agreements with community members, agencies, institutions and organizations to create sustainable support for the NCMT System and, in the process, help pave the way in improving quality of life for northcentral Montana residents and tribal communities.
The Volunteer Coordinator will be stationed at Opportunity Link’s office in Havre, Montana but will be requested to travel to communities outside of Havre community meetings, implementation and evaluation activities. The Volunteer Coordinator will be working closely with local, tribal and community leaders on implementing the tasks and will also be learning community-based evaluation in the process.

MTCC VISTAs serve full-time for one year in communities across Montana. All MTCC VISTAs receive a living allowance, health care coverage, and may choose an AmeriCorps Education Award or cash stipend upon completion of their term of service. Members relocating to serve may also receive reimbursement of relocation expenses for travel and shipping costs. AmeriCorps Education Awards can be applied toward tuition or to pay down existing college loans. MTCC VISTAs may receive graduate credit for their service through the ALIVE program offered through The University of Montana’s Office for Civic Engagement. Because the service term with AmeriCorps is full-time, VISTAs cannot be current students (except through ALIVE) or hold other employment.
Community Service VolunteerDistrict IV HRDC's Mutual Self Help Housing Program is constantly in need of volunteers to assist in the building and construction of houses.
Opportunity Link, through its Community Service Program, partnered with the Hill County Court and Havre City Court to credit hours served with an equivalent dollar value to help pay for court fines.
